During the year-end holidays, everyone is baking Christmas cookies, making show-stopping desserts, having big dinners, and calories just aren’t counted. Then, the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, bringing us into the New Year, with dishes of black-eyed peas, lentils, and a new mindset. All of a sudden, it seems everyone is on a diet, healthy meals are in, sweets are off the menu, and there are stampedes to the gym!
Too bad we can’t keep everything in moderation throughout the year.

Even though these are oven-baked, there’s no reason you can’t make them in the air fryer, too. As you can see from the photo above, I did this batch in my air fryer.
Here’s another relatively guilt free snack: homemade trail mix!

So I’m sharing a recipe for a healthy snack made with organic sweet potatoes. They’re perfect for toddlers to seniors, and everyone in between.
Lumpia, Filipino spring rolls, are chock full of vegetables including sweet potatoes!

They are baked in the oven, and not fried, so that’s a plus, not to mention that sweet potatoes are some of the most nutritious veg on the planet!

Sweet Potato Chips Recipe

FULL PRINTABLE RECIPE BELOW
Note: I would highly recommend using a food processor.
Ingredients
- 5 or 6 organic sweet potatoes, washed and dried
- olive oil
- sea salt
Special equipment: food processor, mandoline slicer, and vegetable peeler (if desired)
Directions
Preheat oven to 200º F (93º C)
I don’t peel my potatoes, but I would peel them if they are not organic.
- Using a food processor, or mandoline slicer, slice the sweet potatoes very thinly. Place in a bowl then drizzle with some olive oil, and sprinkle lightly with sea salt.
2. Mix well by tossing in the bowl and mixing the slices together by hand and place on a parchment lined sheet pan.
Make sure they are in a single layer.
3. Place in preheated oven for 15 minutes, then turn over, so they bake/dry evenly.
Continue to bake the sweet potato chips, checking to make sure the potatoes aren’t browning because each oven is different.
Bake for about 50 minutes in total, turning when needed, or removing small slices first..
Take out of the oven and let cool completely before eating or placing in a tin, or Ziploc bag

Oven Baked Sweet Potato Chips (Crisps)
Ingredients
- 6 sweet potatoes (washed and dried)
- 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp sea salt (or more, to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200º F (93º C)
- 1. Using a food processor, slice the sweet potatoes very thinly.
- 2. Place in a bowl then drizzle with some olive oil, and sprinkle lightly with sea salt. Mix well by tossing in the bowl and mixing the slices together by hand.
- 3. Next, place on parchment lined cookie sheet in a single layer. Place in preheated oven for 15 minutes, then turn over, so they bake/dry evenly. Continue to bake the sweet potato chips, checking to make sure the potatoes aren't browning because each oven is different. Bake for about 50 minutes in total, turning when needed, or removing small slices first.
- Take out of the oven and let cool completely before eating or placing in a tin, or plastic bag.
Notes
- Please only make this recipe if you have a food processor as it’s very difficult (and dangerous) to slice sweet potatoes thin enough for chips, by hand.
- TO MAKE IN THE AIR FRYER – make a smaller batch and follow your product’s directions for temp and time.

LOVE, LOVE sweet potatoes! These chips/crisps (depending on your country) are delicious and about as easy as anything can be. Thankfully I have a mandolin for slicing!
These are so good, and truly addictive, but I don’t feel guilty eating them! Why aren’t these more popular? Thanks for the easy recipe.
