Avocado mousse secretly disguises avocado within swirls of deep, dark chocolate flavor. Not only is it delicious, but it’s healthy and nutritious. Win-win.
This avocado mousse is one of those sneaky treats which uses a healthy ingredient that no one knows is included!

I bet if you asked, no one would guess that the creamy mousse is made with avocado!
I’m not usually a nature hater, but I’m still at war with a squirrel in my avocado tree. You may recall my frustration with this creature over a year ago when I posted my avocado and tomato salad.
Well, all this time later, that squirrel still gets to more of my avocados than I do! I pick so many of them off the ground that I just had to do something different with the avocados as they were ripening all at once.
Love avocados? Try this avocado toast recipe, it’s fantastic (with burrata!)
Serendipity struck when I saw Manu’s Menu‘s chocolate avocado mousse recipe! It looked so dark, thick and rich, and so incredibly easy to make. I made a few changes to this chocolate mousse with avocado as I wanted a more boozy dessert, and though coffee might be a nice addition.
Are you looking to use avocado in a main course instead?

By the way, no one in my family realized that there was avocado in the avocado mousse until I told them, but not until after they’d scoffed them all!

I have to say, it doesn’t sound weird at all! I tried avocado brownies last fall, and was shocked at how delicious they were! I’ll bet this mousse is equally good!
Yep, you’d have no clue it’s got something out of the ordinary in it! I’d love to try those brownies too!
omg … that mousse is gorgeous! I am not an avocado fan … but if you say it doesn’t taste weird, I may have to give it a try!
I used to dislike avocados too, but when our house came with an avocado tree which was LOADED with fruit, I felt guilty not eating them, knowing how good they are for us. I started with chips and guacamole, and grew to like the guac more and more. Then my mother added a little to our salads when she’d visit and all of a sudden (well, actually, more gradually) I LOVED avocados!! Anyway, this mousse is very un-avocado-y, so this might be a place to start for you, Kimberly! :)
What a clever little mousse – wow! It’s healthy too with the avocado!
Exactly! :)
I’ve had choc-avo mousse and it is delicious! Your tweaks sound just right.
Thanks, Dorothy!
I LOVE the look of this – and I would have NEVER thought of making a chocolate mouse with avacado! Good thing avacados are so abundant in Mexico :)
It does have a beautiful, glossy look, doesn’t it? Glad you like the idea! :) CC

I have made chocolate avocado mousse before and it’s delicious, I really love how you amped it up with the espresso and kahlua. I must try your recipe, I didn’t use powdered cocoa in mine and really love how that will intensify the chocolate flavor. This is truly yummy!
I never heard of using avocado in mousse before, until I saw Manu’s Menu’s dessert. Let me know how you like it if you do make it, Suzanne! :) Thank you!!
I’m drooling!! love avocado, love the rest of the ingredients – I’ve bookmarked this and longing to try! your photograph is gorgeous!
