Kumquats are a winter fruit here in Southern California. I have a small tree, but it produces a lot of fruit.

Many of my neighbors have kumquat trees or bushes, too. However, almost everyone I speak to doesn’t eat them. In fact, they don’t even pick them because they just don’t know what to do with them, which is a terrible shame.

Given that my neighbors who have kumquats aren’t sure what to do with them, I thought I’d create a list of recipes for those of you who have kumquats you’d like to use, but are in the same boat. I have a Trader Joe’s bag half filled with kumquats. First on my list is your jam, second is them upside down cake! I already made my own version of candied kumquats… I think I will do a chutney, too!
