Charcuterie Cups (How to Assemble)
Charcuterie cups are a unique and beautiful way to serve cured meat appetizers. They are easy to assemble and can be customized to suit many different themes and occasions!

Since my first visit to Barcelona in 2017, I fell in love with charcuterie cups!

I mean how can you not love the idea of being able to walk around and enjoy cured meats and more, in a cone? The photo collage that follows is inside the world famous La Boqueria market in Barcelona, and shows other appetizer cups on the right.

Although I purchased the cones and holder in the photos, charcuterie cups can be made in a variety of containers. You can use little glasses, containers, even paper cups! The ones I made are actually antipasto cups because they are made with mostly Italian products, but you can do whatever you like, just use cured meats if you’re going to call them charcuterie cups.

What are Charcuterie Cups?
While you may think that there’s no explanation needed, this is very important information for me to add. You see, although charcuterie is a French word referring to meats, there has been a trend of calling every board under the sun “a ________ charcuterie board” even if it’s vegetarian. For example, a “cookie charcuterie board” or a “hot chocolate charcuterie board” and in fact, I have seen a “vegan charcuterie board”. Here, you can read more about a what a charcuterie board really is.

It would be like our American version of deli meats, so if you can imagine a “cookie deli meat platter” or a “seafood deli meat platter”–it simply makes no sense. So charcuterie cups MUST contain products like prosciutto, jamon, culatello, salami and other cured meats. They can also have other items like cheese and bread sticks added, but without the meat, they are no longer charcuterie cups.

Read on to see how to make these fun and impressive charcuterie cones. They’re great for cocktail parties, romantic meals, picnics, and whenever else you want to have a delicious and healthy snack.
Charcuterie Cups

FULL PRINTABLE RECIPE BELOW
Ingredients
- selection of cured meats
- optional: cheese, olives, pickles, breadsticks, etc.
Special equipment: glasses, cups, cones or other containers

Begin by putting some olives or bread cubes in the bottom to support the meat. Then start placing the charcuterie in the cups.

I like to roll prosciutto onto half a breadstick, then place into the cup or cone. Add folded salami slices, and dry cured Italian sausage.

Continue to add ingredients to fill the cups. I added some slices of Pecorino Romano to these cups with olives.

As you can see, without anything else, these look rather lackluster, despite being flavor bombs. However, we can do better!

Pickles on appetizer picks are nice touches of color and texture with the cured meats, not to mention for flavor, and here’s the difference it makes in presentation.

Much better, don’t you agree?

Pour the bubbly and get the party started! These are just perfect for a romantic Valentine’s date (hint, hint.)
