Raspberry Nectarine Smoothie (with Fresh Figs…shhhh!)

June 21st, 2012 | 5 Comments

This raspberry nectarine smoothie doesn’t need any sugar or ice cream or added ingredients. It’s simply sweet, nutritious and delicious on its own!

Much to the dismay and horror of my Italian born mother, I dislike fresh figs.

So, the fact that I have a bearing fig tree at the moment, and my mother, whose favorite fruit is figs, is not here to eat them, is rather a problem. My kids don’t like them either (which is apparently my fault, according to my mother).

Actually, I wish my kids and I did like figs because they are a super-fruit, full of so many health benefits! You can read about it here. However, where there’s a will, there’s a way, so I decided to “hide the figs” in a smoothie with other fruit I had on hand: raspberries and nectarines, and without any added sugar, it was so sweet and refreshing (and healthy)!

But the best part was, no one could taste the figs–shhh, don’t tell my mother!

Is there a fruit you don’t like? Why not try “hiding” it in a smoothie like this so you can reap the benefits of lots of different fruits?
