Veneto Region of Italy
The Veneto region Italy, is a largely undiscovered area near Venice! Learn where to go, what to see (and do), and what to eat in the this gorgeous territory of Northeastern Italy!

If you have Venice on your radar, will be visiting this spectacular city, or simply have it on your bucket list, you won’t want to miss the nearby larger Province of Veneto, particularly the Treviso region.
Disclosure: I was hosted on a three day press trip through the Province of Treviso in order to share my experience with you. Thank you to Marca Treviso, Touring with Lara, and the Veneto region for their effort in making this such an enjoyable and delectable trip!

Where is the Treviso/Veneto Region of Italy?

Veneto stretches from Austria to the south of Venice and east to Lake Garda. It encompasses the larger cities of Venice, Verona, Padua, Vicenza and Treviso.
The MAP OF VENETO REGION ITALY above will give you perspective on where the province of Treviso is located, and you can see how large the Veneto region is on the inset map of Italy. In fact, some events at the winter Olympics 2026 will be held in the Veneto province of Italy beginning next month in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Why Should I Visit This Part of Veneto?
Veneto is ideal for travelers who appreciate fantastic food and wine, ancient towns and cities, and love to discover historic churches, museums and palaces. While the region is perfect for art-lovers, it’s also a destination for those who enjoy scenic walks and hikes (or biking) and spa-seekers.
Its location also makes it easy to visit neighboring countries with a quick and easy drive, although you probably won’t want to leave

History and Attractions
There are so many points of interest in the Treviso region, it would take months on end to try to see them all! On our trip, we focused on the culinary gems and wineries, but some wineries and restaurants are historic gems in and of themselves. For example, some of the cellars at Villa Sandi winery are converted bunkers stretching 1.5 kilometers, dating from World War I. They provide the perfect temperature and conditions for aging their wines.

Exceptional Cuisine
When I tell you that the food we had was some of the best I’ve ever tasted, it’s really saying something because I’ve traveled to Italy and most of Europe, many times, and had outstanding cuisine my entire life (given my background and food-centric family.) I sampled many incredible cheeses, main dishes, marvelous meats, pastries, and delicious desserts I’ve never had before!

Phenomenal Wines and More
No matter what type of wine you enjoy, you will find at least one that you will fall in love with, or possibly many. The Veneto wine region is home to Prosecco, but there’s thousands of other choices of wines which are produced here. You’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to wineries to tour, or varietals to choose. Don’t forget breweries exist in Italy, too, such as 32 Via dei Birrai, which makes award-winning beer, and surprisingly, a tasty vinegar (which is beer-based!)

Accommodations to Suit Every Traveler
You’ll find every kind of stay is possible, from camping to stunning 5 star hotels, in the Veneto region. We stayed in a different hotel or bed and breakfast every night, and each accommodation has its special features, some poured their hearts into their breakfasts, but each one holds a lovely memory and a bit of the Trevisan magic.

How to Travel within the Treviso Region of Veneto
- You can choose to rent a car and drive yourself, or hire a driver (Treviso Car Service was excellent) to take you from place to place. The latter means you won’t have any issues when you’re wine tasting or having some Prosecco with dinner.
- Taking the train is a great option, but this will limit the places you can visit. If you’re fine visiting only cities and towns, this is the easiest and most inexpensive option. There are also buses, for example, FlixBus, but they will also only go to more popular cities and towns.
