Using up stale pita bread never tasted so good!

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 pita bread (the kind which makes a pocket when cut in half)
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil (extra virgin)
  • 2 cloves garlic (freshly minced)
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • ¼ tsp optional: garlic salt or granulated garlic

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C)
  • Carefully slice each pita in half horizontally, then cut into eighths using a pizza cutter.
  • Arrange the pieces on a cookie sheet then put the oil mixture together. Add the minced garlic, salt, and garlic powder (if using) to the oil and stir together.
  • Using a pastry brush, brush the bread with the oil on both sides. Just add more oil to the bowl if you don't have enough. Next, sprinkle the salt and garlic powder on top of both sides of the oil brushed pita pieces.
  • Place the baking tray (or trays) in the preheated oven and bake for about 4 or 5 minutes. Remove from the oven, turn each chip over and continue to bake for another 5 minutes or so. You can decide how dark and crunchy you like them.
  • Allow to cool completely before placing in a tin or sealable bag. Serve on their own or with hummus or your favorite dip.
