Glorified rice is a vintage American recipe that is essentially rice pudding with additions such as canned fruit, and is served cold.

Ingredients

  • 1 recipe rice pudding RICE PUDDING RECIPE LINK IN NOTES
  • 15 oz fruit cocktail canned, in fruit juice (drained, reserve the juice)
  • 4 maraschino cherries (optional)

Instructions

  • ingredients for glorified rice
  • Stir the chilled rice pudding, then add the drained, fruit cocktail.
  • Mix until combined, adding some of the liquid from the fruit cocktail as desired, then spoon into bowls, or glasses.
  • Serve as is, or top with a single marachino cherry.

Notes

  • RECIPE FOR CREAMY RICE PUDDING
  • You may want to 1 or 2 more tablespoonfuls of sugar to the rice pudding recipe if you like a sweeter dessert.
  • add drained, canned pineapple tidbits, or other additions, as desired
