Roasted Chestnuts in 3 Easy Steps (in an Air Fryer)

A simple, air fryer method to roast chestnuts.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz chestnuts (fresh, preferably local or Italian)

Instructions

  • Preheat the airfryer to 400 F (200 C)
  • Step 1: Cut the Chestnuts: With a sharp knife, carefully cut slit into the soft side of each chestnut. This is safer than cutting the hard bottom.
  • Step 2: Roast the Nuts: Place the chestnuts into the preheated air fryer. Set the timer for 20 minutes. Shake the nuts every 5 minutes. The nuts will split open even more as they cook.
  • Step 3: Cool and Peel the Chestnuts: After 20 minutes, peel open a nut carefully and check that they are roasted to your liking. Remove and cool before peeling and enjoying.

Notes

  • You can roast chestnuts in an oven or over a fire, too.
