I know that there are many of you who do not follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or other social media, so I truly apologize for the absence and lack of updates.

Disclosure: I was hosted by AmaWaterways for the Enchanting Rhine cruise, auto rental from Auto Europe, travel insurance through Travelex and a one night hotel stay with dinner and breakfast at the Hotel Alemannenhof. All opinions are solely mine.

I left for Amsterdam on April 24th and my mother met me for two days around the city, and then we embarked on a Rhine River cruise with AmaWaterways which I cannot wait to tell you about! Even though the weather was unseasonably cold, we still had a brilliant time.

We disembarked yesterday in Basel, Switzerland. I rented a car, courtesy of Auto Europe (the company I usually use) and drove to Lake Titisee, where my family has been in the past. It was a bit cold, but staying at the Hotel Alemannhof made me not care what the weather was like: this hotel is a dream!

My mother and I woke up in Germany, drove through Switzerland with a stop in Locarno and are now in a little town on the eastern shore of Lake Lugano (on the Italian side) called Porlezza. We are heading to Lake Como tomorrow, although my mother doesn’t know it yet (big surprise for her) and then we will drive north, stay in Zurich and then fly to Rome to meet my daughter who has just finished her freshman year of college!

I have not been at a loss for culinary treasures, I can assure you, and there is much more to come!

Meet Christina

A Scottish Italian cook living in Los Angeles, Christina is usually cooking, baking or (cr)eating something scrumptious. When she isn't in the kitchen, she loves to travel, near and far, as long as good food is involved. Christina is on a mission to save authentic Italian dishes from extinction, and is constantly promoting Scottish (and British) food as some of the best cuisine the world has to offer—one steak pie and sticky toffee pudding at a time.
